George M. Bevier Engineering & Sciences Library

Welcome!

The Bevier Engineering Library is the primary location for resources in biological sciences, chemistry, engineering, geology and environmental science, neuroscience, physics and astronomy, mathematics, and statistics. We support the Swanson School of Engineering, the Departments of Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Geology and Environmental Science, Mathematics, Neuroscience, Physics and Astronomy, and Statistics.

We now provide resources and services to support teaching and research in chemistry and related chemical sciences! Our collection includes print and electronic resources, books, journals, and databases such as SciFinder and Reaxys. We specialize in subjects including analytical, biological, inorganic, organic, and physical chemistry, chemical synthesis, materials and nanoscience, spectroscopy, electrochemistry, and more.

The Bevier Engineering Library also now houses resources and services to support teaching and research in the biological sciences and neuroscience. Our collection includes print and electronic resources, books, journals, and literature databases such as BIOSIS Previews and PubMed or Medline. We cover the subjects of genetics, microbiology, molecular biology, plant and animal sciences, evolution, ecology, brain science and all other aspects of neuroscience, and more.

Our services include:

  • Borrowing services, including Interlibrary Loan and EZBorrow
  • Reservable group study room with a monitor for sharing screens (please reserve in the library)
  • Three individual computer stations
  • Wireless internet access
  • Two scanners
  • Self-Service Black & White Printer
  • Charging station for electronic devices
  • Technical standards from ASTM and IEEE. See the research guide Getting Technical Standards at Pitt for more information when requesting standards other than these two standard issuing organizations.

We’re available to help you find  information for class assignments and in-depth research. Please contact our librarian, Margarete Bower, with questions.
