Scanning Technician

Archives and Special Collections - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (21006583)

Provides general assistance to the Digital Research Library in scanning music scores from the Nek Mirskey Collection. Position also entails performing associated data-entry tasks, post-scanning image enhancement, image management and backup, and quality control procedures pertaining to this grant project. 

As a member of the ULS team, the Library Specialist is expected to recognize, respect, and work effectively with diverse individuals and groups in all aspects of their work, and to proactively maintain a work environment that fosters equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging.

This is a grant funded position that will work on a 1 year grant.

Requires educational background or work experience relevant to the creation of high quality digital images.

Strong computer and scanning skills; excellent organizational skills; the ability to work well with a diverse professional staff. Incumbent must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to use scanning devices and related software, including Adobe PhotoShop and Microsoft Office.  Prefer experience using relational databases, handling archival materials, and working with digital images and color management software. 

Knowledge of music preferred, but not required.
