I participate in the ACRL Personnel Administrators and Staff Development Officers Group, the ARL Diversity Contacts Group, and the LAMA Diversity Officers Group. In August, I was appointed to a two-year term on the LAMA (PAS) Economic Status and Staff Welfare Committee which is currently involved in planning for an ALA Preconference in June (Washington, DC) entitled "Managerial Competencies: Building Tools for Organizational and Individual Success." This preconference was the focus of all our meetings at Midwinter.

  • As a chair of the Committee on Japanese Materials of the Council of East Asian Libraries, I organized and carried out the committee session. The structure of the 1997 Japanese Materials session was divided into two parts: the first half a mini-seminar/workshop focusing on electronic resources, and the second half consisting of standard reports and announcements. The session was very well received by the community and was given many good comments.
