Sachie Noguchi, Japanese Bibliographer NCC chair, carried out two council meetings in September (at ARL, Washington, DC) and January in San Francisco. Planned and organized "Junior Japanese Studies Librarian Training Seminar" in August 2002 at Harvard University; the proposals were sent to the Japan Foundation and AAS North East Asia Council for funding. Council on East Asian Council Executive Committee member; appointed as chair of the Nomination Committee, submitted an election slate to the Council. NCC Multivolume Set Project. proposed funding for Meijiki Hon'yaku bungakusho Zenshu. Microfilm ed. 2 Dai 4-ki 16-51 Zoku Ei-Bei Bungaku Hen. (Tokyo : Nada Shobo, 1995. 36 reels 540,000 yen/$4,251.96); funded 75% ($3,188.97). The Metropolitan Center for Far Eastern Art Studies: proposed funding of $5,000 for purchase of two reprinted Japanese fine art journals in microforms with matching fund from the ULS; Nihon Bijutsu Kyokai Hokoku (26 reels 370,500 yen/$3113.47) and Kyoto Bijutsu Kyokai Zasshi (16 reels 228,000 yen/$1,915.96), with matching fund purchased also Kaigo Soshi (15 reels 213,750 yen/$1,796.21) and Nichi-Futsu Geijutsu (28,500 yen/$239.49). The Japanese Nationality Room Display Committee: as a member compiled the properties of the Nationality Room and gathered the information for the explanations of the items diplayed in the Room; some are semi-permanently and some seasonally displayed. Assessment of Stanford’s East Asian Collection: the collection formerly
belonged to the Hoover Institution on War, Revolution and Peace, but it
was decided to transfer the collection to the Stanford University Libraries.
The evaluation was requested to find the status of the collection to support
Stanford's academic programs. The final report was submitted in February
and accepted.

Dr. David L. Rosenberg, Archivist UE Archives and Labor Collections Pittsburgh/Western Pennsylvania Labor Legacy Web Site. With skilled and dedicated assistance of undergraduate student John Montoya and financial support from area labor unions over the past three years, we have created a web site designed to highlight Labor Collections and also serve as the starting point for a hopefully ongoing effort to "map" the labor history of this region. This site, though still a work in progress, is now up on the ULS server: http://www.library.pitt.edu/labor_legacy/. I have continued to pursue the possibility of a joint scholarly and
archival venture between the University of Pittsburgh and
