Director, Haskell Memorial Library,

The University Library System is seeking a Director for the Haskell Memorial Library, a regional campus library within the University Library System, University of Pittsburgh. The position reports to the Coordinator of the Regional University Library System Libraries. General Responsibilities:
As the administrator of the Haskell Memorial Library, the incumbent is in charge of all operations within the library, including but not limited to: setting policies and procedures for the library, within ULS guidelines; setting short and long term goals, planning, and assessment; soliciting funds for various library-related projects; training staff as needed. The incumbent will also be responsible for the control and oversight of all expenditures, including the Operations, Acquisitions, Gift and Memorial budgets; supervision of personnel (2.5 staff); managing all areas of Collection Development; providing reference and library instruction services; and public relations and service activities within the campus, university, and community.
Required: ALA-accredited MLS degree (or recognized foreign equivalent) and a minimum of three to five years relevant professional experience, with significant successful managerial experience in a library. Demonstrated knowledge of current library trends and resources, ability to work with a diverse clientele, ability to work independently but also within a broader organizational environment, and strong public service orientation. Must have strong organizational skills as well as excellent written and oral communication skills.
Preferred: Experience in managing a large library unit, projects, and/or budgets.
Librarians at the University of Pittsburgh are members of the faculty and are expected to contribute significantly to the profession as well as to perform their specific responsibilities. Successful reviews at the Third and Sixth Year of employment lead to the granting of Expectation of Continuing Employment.

Haskell Memorial Library is located at the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville, a regional campus in a rural community in northwestern Pennsylvania located about two hours north of Pittsburgh. The Titusville campus, which enrolls approximately 550 students, awards associate degrees in Accounting, Business, Business Information Systems, Liberal Arts, Natural Science, Human Services, Nursing, and Physical Therapist Assistant and provides a wide variety of majors in the sciences, engineering, and humanities for students who will complete their baccalaureate degrees through relocation or transfer. Haskell Memorial Library was established to provide academic support and to serve the research needs of the Titusville Campus’ students, faculty, and staff. The library’s collection consists of 40,000+ items.
