The Archives Service Center (ASC) offers reproductions for many of its manuscripts, maps, photographs and other audio-visual materials for a modest fee. ASC staff can also perform search and photocopying services for some designated collections. Please refer to the ASC Fees for Services (PDF) for pricing information.

Reproduction requests can be submitted by completing the following form:

The Archives Service Center has developed one form for use in requesting reproductions and usage permission. Please print out the above form, complete and sign it, and then return via US mail (or in person) along with payment. At this time the Archives Service Center can only accept cash, checks or money orders payable to the “University of Pittsburgh.” We highly recommend you contact us with questions about your order before you submit it with payment!

All requests for photographic and media reproductions are filled in the order in which they are received. Acquiring reproductions of material from the Archives Service Center does not constitute permission to publish, broadcast, or exhibit. Please refer to our Usage Policies and Guidelines for more information.

The Archives Service Center requires two weeks lead-time to process a reproduction order. A $25.00 rush fee will be charged for orders that require turn-around time within five (5) business days or sooner.

Requestors should be reminded that the copyright status of photographs and audiovisual material is often difficult to determine, because it is affected by criteria such as the photographer’s employment status (i.e. work for hire), the date material was created, the date material was first published, and information associated with its first publication. It is the responsibility of the requestor to verify copyright status for purposes other than individual, private use.

Coroner Case Files (1887-1974)

ASC staff will search our database of the Coroner Case Files for free on your behalf. Please email us the name of the deceased and approximate date of death and we will look for a match. If we do find the name of the deceased and you would like a copy of the case file, you will need to complete and submit the ASC Coroner Case File Request Form (PDF)  along with payment ($12) to initiate the request.
