Ask A Reference Question Online: Submit a reference question online using our Ask A Librarian service. Typically, you can expect a response in two business days when the University is in session. Note: you must have a valid email address to receive a response.

Ask the Library to Purchase a Book We Don't Own: If you have been unable to find a book listed in PITTCat+, and you believe that the library should own it, please give us as much information as possible so that we can identify the book for possible acquisition in the future.

Request a Book That's Not Yet Available for Circulation: If a book is listed as "In-Process" or "On Order" within PITTCat+ use the Get It! link in book's record. Please note that a book that is "On Order" will take longer to process than one which is not.

Request an Item From Storage: Click the Get it! link in PITTCat+ once you are viewing the item's record.

Request a Book, Microfilm, or Dissertation From Another Campus or Institution: University of Pittsburgh faculty, staff, and students with a valid Pitt ID may use this form to request books, microfilm, or dissertations that are not owned by the ULS. Click the Get it! link in PITTCat+ to request items from the branch campuses (Bradford, Greensburg, Johnstown, and Titusville) libraries.

Request a Journal Article From Another Campus or Institution: University of Pittsburgh faculty, staff, and students with a valid Pitt ID may use this form to request articles from journals that are not held by the ULS. This includes requests for journal articles from the branch campus (Bradford, Greensburg, Johnstown, and Titusville) libraries.

Request a Search for an Item Listed in PITTCat+ as Not Checked Out: For items that are not checked out but cannot be located on the shelf. Use the Get It! in each record.

To request a search for a missing magazine/journal, find the item in PITTCat+ and then click Get It!

Instructors, Place Books on Reserve: Instructors, if you need to place books on reserve in the Library you may use this form.

Instructors, Request a Library Instruction Session For Your Class: As an instructor, you may request a library instruction session for your class. We will tailor the class to the needs of your students, with an emphasis on library resources in your specific discipline.

Request an Item From the Stark Listening Center: Find the item in PITTCat+ and click on the Get It! linkto make your request. Visit the Stark Listening Center page for more information.


Health Sciences Library System (HSLS) Service Requests: Use these services only if you are faculty, staff, or a student of the six schools of the health sciences at the University of Pittsburgh, or an employee of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC).
