Library Research Guide for Engineers
Overview:
Books
Books provide context and/or history related to a topic; therefore, they are useful to both experts and newcomers to a field. The length of time from writing to publication can sometimes take more than a year, so the information included in books is often less timely than other resources; however, books usually cover more aspects of a topic and provide more in-depth information than other resources.
Finding Books in the University Library System:
You can find out if the University of Pittsburgh owns a book, microform, piece of music, CD, tape, dissertation, government publication or journal by searching for its title in PITTCat, the online catalog for the University of Pittsburgh.
