Invitation to the Opening Reception for Leibniz Exhibit

The University Library System invites you to the opening reception for its exhibit to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the death of Gottfried Wilhelm von Leibniz, the German polymath and philosopher. The exhibit will feature Leibniz’s cipher machine, the only working model ever constructed of the cryptography machine he conceived of in the late 17th Century by Leibniz. This machine uses certain structures and methods similar to his calculating machine, versions of which were built in his lifetime. The reception will be opened by some remarks about Leibniz’s life, and work by Dr. Nicholas Rescher.
