21) A letter on the back of this sketch, dated
Sept. 29, 1938, is from James Thurber's brother Robert, addressed to
Fletcher Hodges, Jr., former Curator of the Foster Hall Collection:
"Please accept the enclosed pencil sketch with my compliments...my
brother did it in an idle moment at home a couple of years ago."
James Thurber's Many Moons won the Caldecott Award in 1944.
