The Robert F. Sibert Informational Book Award is presented annually to the most distinguished informational book published in English during the previous year. The award, named in honor of the long-time President of Bound to Stay Bound Books, Inc. (Jacksonville, Illinois), aims to honor the author whose work of nonfiction has made a significant contribution to the field of children's literature. The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC), which created the award in 2001, defines an informational book as one "written and illustrated to present, organize and interpret documentable factual material for children."
