MICHAEL L. PRINTZ AWARD BOOKS

This award is named for Michael L. Printz, a Topeka, Kansas school librarian who was a long-time active member of the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA). The award was created in 2000 to be given to an author (or authors) whose book exemplifies literary excellence in young adult literature. Books that were previously published in another country are eligible for the award as long as an American edition has been published during the period of eligibility (the period of eligibility is anytime between January 1 and December 31 of the preceding year). The committee may also name as many as four honor books each year. The award will be presented annually, unless the award committee believes that no book of a particular year is deserving. The award is administered by YALSA which is a division of the American Library Association.
