The East Asian Library supports the Asian Studies Center for instruction and research in Chinese, Japanese and Korean studies. The library houses major collections in East Asian languages in most of the humanities and social sciences disciplines.

It is one of the major East Asian collections in North America, with about 240,200 volumes of Chinese, 116,800 volumes of Japanese, 6,000 volumes of Korean and 12,800 volumes of English language materials, plus over 900 titles of periodicals (over 48,000 volumes bound) published in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan and Korea.
