What is PITTCat?
PITTCAT is the online catalog of the University of Pittsburgh libraries. Over 3 million titles can be found in PITTCat including books, periodical titles, microforms, dissertations, electronic resources, government documents, maps, musical scores, and audiovisual materials.
PITTCat is unicode compliant and accomodates using the original Chinese, Japanese, or Korean characters to search for materials in these original languaages, and display the bibliographical information in the orginal scripts. This is an important feature that is particularly useful for patrons looking for East Asian materials. Searching guides are available for users to effectively search PITTCat for East Asian materials.
Please note: not all materials available in University libraries appear in PITTCAT. For instance, the Mitsui Collection at the East Asian Library. Please refer to the card catalog cabinet for retrieving bibliographical information of materials in the Mitsui Collection. |
