Overview
The East Asian Library has approximately 248,000 volumes of Chinese, 118,600 volumes of Japanese, 7,500 volumes of Korean and some English language materials, plus over 900 titles of periodicals (over 49,300 volumes bound) published in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, and the United States.
In addition, it holds about 10,100 reels of microfilms, and over 26 current newspapers, over 1,000 CD-ROMs, about 700 Video/audio tapes, 1,100 DVDs, and a few online databases.
The Collection is particularly strong in Chinese classics, history, religion, art, language, folk culture, and literature. The collection is also strong in contemporary China and Japan, in such areas as Chinese economy, Chinese Communist Party, Japanese company histories, and Korean reference and primary sources.
