| The East Asian Gateway Service, which is administered by the East Asian Library of the University of Pittsburgh Library System, focuses on free delivery of full-text Chinese-language academic publications to any researcher who cannot find the needed item in any U.S. libraries. Full-text articles are transmitted electronically via the Internet from the participating libraries in mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan which hold the titles, to Pittsburgh, where they are, then, sent to requesters via the Internet An online Request Form is provided for your convenience to send your request to the Center.

Dec. 12, 2004, The Chronicle of Higher Education (by Lisa Guernsey) reported our service:
"Librarians at the University of Pittsburgh have set up a World-Wide Web-based system that enables researchers to retrieve journal articles from the opposite ends of the earth -- literally. Scholars in the United States can now receive copies of articles from more than 10,000 Chinese academic journals that are housed in libraries throughout mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. ..."
