Your Web search starts with a search engine, so it's good to know the different types of search engines so that you can choose the best one for your purpose.

Basic Search Engine
This is an engine that takes words and/or phrases, sometimes called search terms or keywords, and searches a collection of sites for any site that may contain those words.
