Quick Guide to the Millstein Library
The UPG campus maintains an expanding
undergraduate library of approximately 78,000 volumes. In addition to the regular book collection,
resources include a wide variety of periodicals, compact discs, videorecordings,
and DVDs. A leisure reading paperback collection and children's collection
is also maintained. Microfilm reading equipment, including microfilm reader/
printers and other audio-visual aids are available for patron use. A computer
lab for word processing, e-mail and other applications is available to all
Pitt students. Millstein Library also has laptops available to borrow.
THE DIGITAL LIBRARY
The University of Pittsburgh's online discovery tool, Pittcat+,
is available through library workstations
or through your own computer. The Digital
Library contains bibliographic, visual, textual, and statistical databases. Pittcat+ allows you to search all these databases from one single interface. The system has additional features including the ability to subscribe to RSS feeds, export citations and files to popular programs such as EndNote or RefWorks, and you can refine your searches by format, location, and other criteria. The 'word cloud' also helps you refine and explore your topic.
