Mobile Device Lending Program
Borrower’s Agreement
This agreement is in effect each time you check out a mobile device.
Terms and Conditions:
1. Borrowing Privileges:
All University of Pittsburgh students, faculty, and staff in good standing with current University of Pittsburgh ID cards are eligible to borrow mobile devices.
2. Loan Periods:
Mobile devices are due 8 hours after they are borrowed, with no renewals.
Mobile devices must be returned to the Millstein Library Circulation Desk 1 hour before closing.
3. Returning Mobile devices:
Return mobile devices to the Millstein Library Circulation Desk.
When returning a mobile device, please wait for library staff to check the mobile device for damage and issue you a return receipt (upon request), which is your proof that you returned the mobile device. Disputes about returned mobile devices and mobile device bags will be resolved upon your presentation of a return receipt.
4. Responsibility and Liability:
You are responsible for the mobile device while it is checked out to you. Do not leave a mobile device unattended at any time. If a mobile device is stolen while it is checked out to you, you are responsible for replacement fees.
When you are borrowing or using a mobile device, please bring any problems to the attention of library staff immediately. You will be responsible for any damage to this mobile device while it is checked out to you.
The University Library System does not provide any support for the use of lending mobile devices. They are provided as-is and may be used by borrowers as they see fit.
I will comply with the University’s policies & procedures for computer and network use.
5. Fines and Fees:
The overdue charges for mobile devices are $10.00 per hour, up to four hours. Thereafter, the mobile device is considered lost or stolen, and you will be billed for its replacement up to a maximum of $1000.
6. Location Awareness:
The University Library System reserves the right to track the location of location-aware mobile devices for security and statistical purposes. This information may be used to improve the borrowing program or to aid in law enforcement in the event that a device is lost or stolen.
