Use Zoom!, the library's article search engine, to search for articles in magazines and journals.
Portions of the map, video, and archival collections, most pre-1976 government documents, and a small number of other titles published before 1981 are not in PITTCat. Ask a librarian to help locate those items.
To find material at Pitt:
Use PITTCat, the online library catalog of the University of Pittsburgh.
Note: if an item is listed as "In Process," you can ask us to priority process it for you.
If we don't have it:
- Try E-ZBorrow, which lets you borrow from other Pennslyvania libraries. Items are generally delivered within 4-7 days. You will be notified via email when the book is available for pickup.
- You can also check the online library catalogs of local universities.
- If you are a Pitt student or employee, you can get a Special Borrower Card that lets you check-out materials from other colleges in the area, like Carnegie Mellon or Duquense.
- The WorldCat database lets you search across library catalogs to find out which ones have what you want.
If we don't have it and E-ZBorrow doesn't have it:
1. If we don't have it and E-ZBorrow doesn't have it, you can ask us to borrow it from a library that does.
-This is called Requests From Other Libraries .
2. We'll also consider buying what you need.
