Smithsonian Global Sound lets users find and listen to musical recordings in a diverse range of styles from around the world. Search or browse by country of origin, cultural group, instrument, artist, language and more. The database features selections from musical categories such as American Folk, Jazz, Blues, World, and Children’s among others.

Users can create playlists and link to an online store of the materials. Educators have options to create tests and further organize material for use in coursework.
