The "NASW Register of Clinical Social Workers," 10th Edition provides a listing of clinical social workers who have met national standards for education and experience established by the NASW Competence Certification Commission on recommendation of the Committee on Clinical Social Work. The first "NASW Register of Clinical Social Workers" was published in 1976, with a supplement issued in 1977. Updated editions were published in 1978, 1982, 1985, 1987, 1991, 1993, 1995, and 1997. The "NASW Register" has become an important resource for identifying social workers who are qualified providers of mental health services. Like its predecessors, this edition aims to advance sound professional practice standards by providing a uniform method to identify qualified clinical social work practitioners.
