The National Index to Chinese Newspapers & Periodicals (NICNP) is a product of Shanghai Library. It is a powerful search tool for Chinese newspapers and periodicals. It provides access to bibliographical information of Chinese articles from 1833 to the present (more than 4,000,000 entries). The University of Pittsburgh's subscription allows patrons to search Chinese newspaper and periodical published from 1833 to1949.
How to use the database: 1. Full functionality with Internet Explorer 2. Click on 用户登录 to enter the database. 3. Click on 数据检索 (the coverage of periodical index that Pittsburgh subscribed have already been selected by default). 4. There are several options for searching such as 普通检索(basic), 高级检索(advanced), etc. 5. Click on an article title for complete citation information. 6. Logout by clicking on 注销.
